Job summary

TXM Recruit are seeking a Breakdown Engineer for a long-established company based in Rushden, Northamptonshire. The role covers service and repair of industrial machines across sectors including recycling and farming, with a focus on diagnosing faults and restoring operation.

Salary ranges from £35,000 to £48,000 depending on experience. 40 hours per week, 8am–5pm, with door-to-door pay, travel time, and occasional weekend duties with enhanced rates. Full UK license required.

Qualifications

• Industry experience.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults on open machines during breakdowns.
• Rectify faults using electrical drawings and schematics.
• Work with PLCs and pneumatics/hydraulics as needed for repairs.
• Support service and repair across industrial machines and systems.

Breakdown Engineer - IND1

TXM Recruit are supporting a Breakdown Engineer company based in Rushden, Northampton, who have been operating for over 40 years with the onboarding of a new permanent Industrial electrician. The company has won the Northamptonshire SME Employer of the Year within the last 10 years and is looking to continue this success.

Key Details

• Salary – £35,000 – £48,000 DOE
• Hours – 40 hours per week, 8am to 5pm. 20 minute guaranteed stop for food and breaks when driving etc.
• Location – within a 60‑minute radius of Rushden (NN10)
• Other – Door‑to‑door pay, Work Van / Fuel. 6am‑6pm 1x rate, 6pm‑12pm 1.5x rate, 12pm‑6am 2x rate; stay away once a quarter to help supply Scottish customers; any weekend work is double time; travel time paid once reached site or when reached NN10 postcode.

The work will mix service and repair work on a number of industrial machines such as presses, compactors, balers, cut‑and‑crease machines, etc., and will work within the recycling, farm, printing and processing industries.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults based upon open machines.
• Rectify faults using the electrical drawings.
• Working knowledge of PLCs.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulics and mechanical engineering for repairs when required.
