Job description

Join the Team Building the Future of Flight

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real impact, take on exciting challenges, and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of uncrewed aviation?

At Malloy Aeronautics, you’ll play a key role in helping us develop innovative technology that’s changing the way the world moves.

Who are we?

We’re on a mission to revolutionise uncrewed flight. At Malloy Aeronautics, we develop advanced heavy‑lift UAVs for both defence and commercial applications.

What sets us apart is our in‑house approach. From design and engineering to manufacturing and testing, the majority of our work happens under one roof in Berkshire, allowing us to innovate quickly, maintain exceptional quality, and bring ideas to life faster.

For our teams, that means hands‑on involvement, real ownership, and the opportunity to help shape the future of UAS technology.

What are we looking for?

In this role, you will manufacture, assemble and test electrical looms and harnesses for our unmanned vehicles, with a strong focus on precision crimping and soldering of connectors across a range of sizes. You will install electrical harnesses onto chassis bodies using wiring diagrams and support the electromechanical assembly of vehicle components and sub‑assemblies. The position also involves training and assisting colleagues as needed. We are recruiting multiple candidates at various skill levels, from junior to senior, all of whom must have experience in the essential technical competencies listed.

Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK

What you’ll be doing (but not limited to):
  • Set up and build of looms and harness assemblies from wiring diagrams.
  • Crimping and soldering small gauge connectors for signals and grounding against drawings.
  • Crimping and soldering high gauge ring terminals and power connections against drawings.
  • Manual techniques such as cutting and stripping cables and application of heat shrink as required.
  • Prioritise tasks to ensure product manufacture and delivery, to schedule.
  • Validation of Bill of Material against drawing and existing stock.
  • Plan for future production requirements, pre-empting stock availability issues and stock holding to minimise impact on production and delivery schedules.
  • Visual examination and quality control of completed harnesses prior to integration.
  • Assist with the development of new capabilities and new systems or applications for the product.
  • Installation of looms and harnesses into aircraft structure.
  • Use hand and electrically operated power tools with precision and dexterity in a safe manner.
Essential Skills and Experiences:
  • Able to demonstrate hands on experience in previous roles as a wiring technician, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with crimping in-line, and/or bulkhead connectors, ideally to IPC620 or equivalent standard.
  • Experience with soldering in-line, PCB mount and/or bulkhead connectors, ideally to IPC620/IPC610 or equivalent standard.
  • Experience manufacturing wiring looms to a specification given by an engineering drawing.
  • Experience with harnessing integration from wiring diagrams.
Desired Skills and Experiences
  • Knowledge and experience of manufacturing to wiring standards (e.g IPC / WHMA - A - 620)
  • Experience drawing wiring diagrams and/or engineering drawings
  • Experience working with engineering to suggest solutions.
  • Experience working with harnessing installation on aircraft, vehicles, or products.
  • Consider process or product improvement (health and safety, and efficiency) in the course of daily duties.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Stock validation and identify minimum stock levels for re-order triggers.
  • Must be adaptable, flexible and open to change in a fast‑paced business.
Benefits you may be eligible for:
  • Alternate Fridays off with our 9‑day fortnight
  • BAE Systems Share Incentive Plan
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Annual collective incentive bonus scheme
  • Enhanced family leave with 6 months’ full‑pay maternity leave and 4 weeks’ full‑pay paternity leave

  • Company sick pay
  • Healthcare Cash Plan with Virtual GP access, dental and optical support, plus free cover for dependent children up to age 24
  • Mental health and wellbeing support available 24/7
