Job summary

MERITUS are recruiting for an Electrical Architect to join the client on an initial 6 month contract to support sovereign defence programmes as the business scales.

The role focuses on electrical architecture for missiles and launcher systems, including power, data communication, EMC, and safety signal routing, with duties covering specification, reviews and design authority coordination.

Qualifications

• Electrical/electronics expertise relevant to missiles/launcher systems.
• Experience with interface definitions between subsystems/equipment.
• Knowledge of defence/industry standards and safety requirements.
• Degree-level qualification in a related subject.
• Systems engineering background with requirement writing.
• Knowledge of power architecture, data comms and EMC considerations.

Responsibilities

• Define and specify system electrical requirements and interface characteristics.
• Develop power architectures, budgets and profiles for missiles/launcher subsystems.
• Address EMC, bonding, grounding and screening requirements and signal safety routing.
• Support test, fault-finding, risk reduction, and integration activities.
• Review and author technical reports, guidelines and processes; participate in design reviews.

MERITUS are recruiting for an Electrical Architect to join our client in an initial 6 month contract to support sovereign defence programmes as the business continues to scale.

ELECTRICAL ARCHITECT - INSIDE IR35 - £NEG - 6 months - UNDERGO SC - STEVENAGE (BRISTOL ALSO CONSIDERED) - MUST HAVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT EXPERIENCE - SECTOR: DEFENCE

You will be responsible for the electrical architecture and requirements for missiles and/or their associated launcher systems with duties including:

• Specifying/determining
• system electrical requirements
• interface definitions and characteristics between subsystems/equipment
• power architecture, including power budget and power profiles
• data communication and processing architecture
• requirements for EMC, bonding, grounding and screening
• signal safety, including routing of safety related signals

1. Supporting test and fault-finding activities during compatibility checks, risk reduction, system proving/qualification and integration
2. Reviewing and authoring reports, guidelines and processes
3. Design assessments and analysis
4. Working to defence/industry standards
5. Attending and supporting design reviews

Alternatively, acting as the Equipment Manager (RMO) for specific electrical/electronic equipment(s) that are part of a missile or launcher system you will:

1. Project manage the equipment(s) on behalf of the project during development, qualification and manufacture
2. Own the requirements on behalf of the project for the equipment(s)
3. Produce Statement(s) of Work for the associated design authority for the equipment(s)
4. Create and update plans showing activities for the equipment(s)
5. Manage internal & external design authorities for delivery of the equipment(s) hardware, software and deliverables to schedule, cost, quality and performance
6. Hold regular progress reviews with the design authority for the equipment(s)
7. Review qualification verification evidence
8. Track and find resolution to equipment non-compliances
9. Attend and support design reviews

Skillset/experience required:

Ideally this would be within a defence related background, however, experience within other engineering industries will also be considered.
