Electrical and Software Modernisation Engineer - Bristol - GBP53,000

I am seeking an Electrical and Modernisation Engineer to work on-site for a well-known client based in the Bristol area.

The successful candidate will be part of our service team, playing a crucial role in connecting legacy machinery with current technologies, supporting both service and engineering departments, and assisting in the development of next-generation, high-efficiency packaging systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver custom electrical and software solutions for existing packaging equipment, including older systems.
• Develop and implement electrical/software upgrades to enhance performance and extend machine lifespan.
• Collaborate with field service and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve technical challenges.
• Provide technical support to service personnel, including system analysis and diagnostics.
• Travel domestically and internationally to support installation and commissioning of modernisation solutions.
• Support the integration of updated control systems into older machines, ensuring functionality and performance standards.
• Maintain awareness of cost objectives during design, procurement, and assembly processes.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in Electrical and Software Engineering, ideally within the packaging sector.
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Clear and methodical reporting style.
• Experience with Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon programming environments.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
• Knowledge of CE marking, NEC (NFPA 70/79), CSA, and UL standards.
• Leadership qualities and a commitment to continuous improvement.
