Job summary

Baker Recruitment Group Ltd seeks an experienced Electrical and Mechanical Engineer for a site-based role in a fast-moving timber and window-and-door manufacturing environment. You will perform hands-on maintenance, diagnose faults quickly and carry out small installations and improvements while keeping accurate records.

The role balances breakdown response with planned maintenance, requires flexibility for shutdowns and travel between Group sites, and may include overnight stays as agreed.

Job description

Maximise the safe availability, reliability and performance of production plant, equipment and site services across the Group. The role provides hands-on electrical and mechanical maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis, planned preventive maintenance, small installations and improvement work in a fast-moving timber and window-and-door manufacturing environment.

Electrical and Mechanical Engineer will balance urgent breakdown response with disciplined planned maintenance, ensuring work is completed safely, records are accurate and recurring faults are addressed at source.

This is a site-based operational role. Normal hours, primary base, overtime and any formal call-out rota will be confirmed in the contract or offer documentation. The role requires reasonable flexibility to support planned shutdowns and urgent breakdowns. Travel between Group sites may be required, including occasional overnight stays where agreed.

Ways of working

Safety-led, calm under pressure, organised and able to balance breakdowns with planned work. Clear communicator with reliable written records and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Experience using a CMMS or maintenance planning system; rootcause analysis and small-project delivery.

Practical requirements

Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between Group sites. Able to work flexibly and participate in agreed critical call-out cover. Able to meet the physical requirements of the role, with reasonable adjustments considered.
