Job summary

ARCA is partnering with an aerospace client to recruit engineers to develop motors and generators for civil and military applications. You’ll work on machine design, analysis and prototype testing across electromagnetic, mechanical and thermal engineering specialisms.

The team is recruiting at multiple levels, including senior and principal. Bristol is a focus, with Derby and Solihull also available for discussion, and hybrid working with three days onsite per week.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in motors or generators design and analysis.
• Experience with electromagnetic modelling and related tools.
• Background in aerospace, automotive, or industrial motor development is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimise electric motors or generators.
• Perform electromagnetic modelling using Motor-CAD, Maxwell, COMSOL or equivalents.
• Assess machine performance, losses, efficiency and thermal management.
• Undertake mechanical design of electrical machines, including rotor assemblies and packaging.
• Lead prototype development, testing and validation.

You’ll work on machine design, analysis and prototype testing. Opportunities cover electromagnetic, mechanical and thermal engineering, with roles suited to different technical specialisms.

• Electric motor or generator design and optimisation.
• Electromagnetic modelling using Motor-CAD, Maxwell, COMSOL or equivalent.
• Machine performance, losses, efficiency and thermal management.
• Mechanical design of electrical machines, including rotor assemblies, packaging, structural analysis and vibration.
• Prototype development, testing and validation.

The team is recruiting at multiple levels, including senior and principal. You don’t need experience across everything listed; strong expertise in a relevant area could suit one of the opportunities.

Relevant backgrounds outside aerospace, including automotive and industrial motor development, are welcome.
