Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council in Wirral is seeking an Electoral & Democratic Services Assistant on a 2-year fixed term. The role focuses on planning and delivering statutory elections and providing essential administrative support during governance changes, including Policy and Scrutiny functions.

We are looking to recruit a highly organised and motivated Electoral & Democratic Services Assistant to join our team during a busy period of electoral activity in 2027 and 2028.
This varied role will support the Electoral Services team in the planning and delivery of statutory elections, while also providing essential administrative support as the Council implements changes to its governance arrangements, including support for a newly established Policy and Scrutiny function.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the delivery of democratic processes and local government governance, working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, professionalism and excellent customer service are essential.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines. You will be a confident communicator with strong customer service skills and the ability to deal sensitively with confidential information.
You will be flexible, proactive and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands. A keen eye for detail, strong IT skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.
Experience of working within electoral services, local government or another regulated environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting local democracy and governance while developing valuable experience within Electoral and Democratic Services.
