Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited in Greenwich is seeking an Elective Home Education Support Officer on a 3-month contract to assist with monitoring and reviewing home-education provisions. You will work with parents, schools and education professionals to ensure compliance with EHE responsibilities.

The role involves assessing provision, providing guidance on requirements, maintaining case records and safeguarding duties, with regular liaison across local authority partners.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families.
• Experience in Education, Children's Services, Attendance or Family Support.
• Ability to advise and support families on EHE requirements.
• Maintaining accurate case records and reports.
• Experience working with schools and education professionals.
• Strong safeguarding understanding.
• Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the EHE Officer in assessing home education provision.
• Contact parents of home-educated children.
• Review provision and identify where support or intervention is needed.
• Provide guidance to parents on home education requirements.
• Signpost families to relevant services and resources.
• Maintain case records and provide written feedback.
• Refer complex cases to the EHE Officer when needed.
• Assist with initiation of School Attendance Orders where appropriate.
• Support safeguarding and regulatory duties related to EHE.
• Liaise with schools, parents and partners to maintain educational standards.
• Work with schools regarding EHE referrals and concerns relating to illegal off-rolling.
• Liaise with schools, parents, and partner agencies to ensure educational standards are maintained.
• Maintain accurate documentation and case management records.
• Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and escalated appropriately.
