Job summary

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an Education Officer to join Cheshire East Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Lead on the Local Authority's statutory duties relating to Elective Home Education (EHE) and monitor the education and wellbeing of children educated other than at school. Collaborate with schools, families and partner agencies to ensure safeguarding and appropriate action when concerns

Qualifications

  • Experience working with families and young people.
  • Good safeguarding knowledge.
  • Experience working with partner agencies and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the Local Authority's statutory duties relating to Elective Home Education (EHE).
  • Monitor the education and wellbeing of children educated other than at school and take action when concerns arise.
  • Advise schools on responsibilities and EHE referral procedures.
  • Work with parents, children, schools and agencies, providing advice and signposting as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of children educated otherwise than at school using tracking/referral systems.
  • Use legal procedures, including School Attendance Orders, where appropriate.
  • Collect and analyse information relating to EHE and Romany Gypsy Traveller families.
  • Arrange and participate in meetings with families, schools and partner organisations.
