Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting for a 12-month fixed-term locum consultant in the Hand & Wrist service within the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery group. The role involves consultant-led elective hand and wrist care, with clinics, operating lists and day cases, plus trauma clinic support as needed.

Applicants should have FRCS (Tr&Orth) and a CCT/CESR, or be within six months of achieving one at interview.

Qualifications

• FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent is required.
• Full GMC registration is required.
• Significant hand & wrist surgery experience in elective and trauma settings.

Responsibilities

• Deliver consultant-level hand and wrist care in inpatients and outpatients.
• Lead consultant-led clinics, elective operating lists, and trauma clinics.
• Support elective recovery and reduce waiting times.
• Supervise and teach junior doctors, allied health professionals and medical students.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits and mandatory training.
