Job summary

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an Elections Manager to lead the Elections Team and deliver high-quality electoral services. The role requires coordinating staffing, training and logistics for local, regional and national elections while ensuring legislative compliance and strong stakeholder engagement.

Based at Number One Riverside, Rochdale, the post offers hybrid working, generous annual leave and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Qualifications

• Experience of leading, managing or supervising a team.
• Experience of managing projects, services or programmes of work with competing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies or guidance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work accurately and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
• Willingness to develop specialist knowledge of electoral services and democratic processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Elections Team to deliver effective and customer focused services.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Plan and deliver local, regional, and national elections, including staffing, training, and logistics.
• Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the electoral register.
• Manage budgets and resources effectively.
• Act as the primary point of contact for candidates, agents, and stakeholders.
• Drive improvements in processes and customer service.
