Job Description:

The Elderly Care Orthopaedic Nurse team at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital have an opportunity to join their team.
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years’ experience, 2 years of which are within a relevant speciality. You should also have evidence of further education including post graduate certification, and/or continuous professional development in relevant areas of practice to this post.
As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for delivering Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) to older adults who present to QEUH with fractures and that are identified as frail. The role will facilitate CGA within the orthopaedic wards of QEUH, triage and provide support for consultant Older Peoples liaison ward rounds. This role will support safe and appropriate onward transfer of patients needing further Older Peoples assessment and rehabilitation within the Geriatric Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (GORU) wards at GGH.
In addition, the post holder will provide orthopaedic support and a liaison service within the GGH site. This will include liaison with a named Orthopaedic consultant to provide timely reviews of patients and reduce unnecessary movement of patients to clinics. As part of the CGA the ECON will support with discharge of patients through appropriate screening, onward referral and patient/family/carer involvement. The post holder will act as an expert resource providing advice where required to members of wider multidisciplinary team.
Our ECON team work over 7 days, with shift hours 07:15- 15:30 currently. Led by a Team Lead ECON, any new appointment would be supported with an appropriate induction to the role and given ongoing development opportunities within the wider Older Peoples Services specialist teams.
