Job summary

West Lothian Council invites applications for an ELC Practitioner at Greenrigg Primary School (ELC). The post is 36 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year, fixed term until 15 August 2027, with shift patterns 7.45am–6.15pm Monday to Thursday and 7.45am–12.45pm Fridays during school holidays when the ELC remains open.

You must hold an HNC/SVQ3 in Early Education and Childcare or equivalent and be registered with the SSSC within six months of starting.

Greenrigg Primary School Nursery Class is seeking an enthusiastic and committed ELC Practitioner who shares our vision and values and is eager to contribute as part of our dedicated team. The successful candidate will support positive outcomes for all children by helping to create a high-quality learning environment that nurtures meaningful interactions, inspires curiosity, and encourages creativity, challenge and independent learning

This is a 36 hour, 52.14-week, fixed term contract in our ELC setting. Please note you will be required to work on a shift pattern Monday - Thursday between the hours of 7.45am and 6.15pm and Fridays between the hours of 7.45am and 12.45pm including during school holidays when our ELC setting will remain open.

This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC.SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3-month period by repayment schedule. If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary.
