EIP CAMHS Senior Clinical Psychologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist with a special interest in CBT (at Band 8a) to join the Bradford and Airedale CAMHS Early Intervention Psychosis Team. The successful applicant will play an active role in shaping the psychological input and therapeutic service delivery across the service.

Bradford Early Intervention service is a nationally recognised, high performing mental health service, specialising in the support and care of young people and adults with, or at risk of developing psychosis. The successful applicant will join a supportive, forward-thinking service with a rich history for delivering high quality care using Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual approaches.

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist, who is passionate about providing high-quality care that addresses the needs of the young people and families who access our service, to join our multidisciplinary team. Previous experience supporting people with psychosis and training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) would be desirable. However, we recognise that not all applicants will have had opportunities to complete this training. For those without CBTp training, a willingness to work towards this is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Psychologist works closely with the senior management team in EIP, and provides opportunities to work creatively, shaping psychological therapies to best fit our communities of Bradford.

The Clinical Psychologist will hold a caseload, providing psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions to young people aged 14-18 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis or are at risk of developing psychosis. The role will also include providing clinical leadership into the CAMHS Early Intervention Team to inform service provision, with dedicated time allocated to instilling a psychological perspective in the team, facilitating team formulations and providing clinical supervision and clinical consultation to colleagues.

The role also includes oversight of Therapy outcome measures in CAMHS, working alongside our Data Analyst and Assistant Psychologist to collate and make meaningful recommendations based on findings. This role has great potential in shaping research and new ways of working with individuals, families, and marginalised communities.

Job responsibilities

Job Overview Continued-

Existing experience of working with children and young people and their families/ in CAMHS is highly desirable. Familiarity in working with and meeting the needs of neurodiverse young people and supporting neuroaffirmative practice would also be highly valued.

Scaffolding, additional training, and support will be provided to the successful application to support transition into the role.

The post is part time and will be offered at 30 hours per week (or 32 hours per week if the successful applicant would like to work slightly longer days).

Person Specification
  • Doctorate level training in clinical or applied psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical, psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS, or a BPS Statement of Equivalence OR Specialist post graduate training to masters level or equivalent in a psychotherapeutic modality - including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Systemic Therapy
  • Accreditation from a recognised Psychological Therapy body e.g. BABCP, BACP, UKCP, HCPC via: (a) Professional route; requiring previous mental health qualification e.g. Clin. Psych., RMN, Dip. SW. or (b) where applicable, the KSA (knowledge, skills and attitude) route (e.g. with the BABCP).
  • PTSMHP modality (CAT/MBT/DBT/CBT/EMDR)
Experience
  • oSignificant experience in relevant area of mental health practise.
  • oApplication of evidenced based specialist psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service.
  • oExperience delivering psychological therapies to patients with complex difficulties.
  • oExperience of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
