Job overview

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, passionate, innovative and motivated Clinical Psychologist to join our Getting Help Team within RDASH CAMHS.

The post holder will join an established supportive multidisciplinary team providing assessments, formulation work and therapeutic interventions for children and young people presenting with mental health difficulties. Excellent therapeutic skills, communication skills, and close working with other members of the multidisciplinary team will be essential.

The post is ideally suited to a qualified clinical psychologist with a particular interest in CAMHS. Part-time and job share applications will be considered.

There are strong links with the Clinical Psychology training course at the University of Sheffield, and there are always trainees on placement within the Department. The Child Psychology Service is strongly committed to personal and professional development.

Main duties of the job
  • Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of clients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources.
  • Offers advice and case consultation to multi-disciplinary team members and wider healthcare professionals and carers/families.
  • Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients’ mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice. Negotiates the implementation of such plans with clients and/or their carers.
  • Implements a range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.
  • Utilises research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the teams/service.
  • Undertakes highly skilled evaluations of therapy options and makes decisions about treatment options.
  • Offers training and upskilling to wider teams.
  • Where appropriately qualified, provides clinical supervision and reflective practice to other healthcare professionals (e.g., care coordinators, CBT therapists, Trainee clinical psychologists) employed within the service.

Qualifications
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
  • Continued professional development through structured self-study, specialist clinical supervision, and/or relevant combination of short courses.
