A little more about your role…

We have a great opportunity for a Project Manager (HV/EHV) to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team.

WSP’s T&D team delivers electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. This role involves managing pre-construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and grid connections at voltages typically between 33kV and 400kV.

Projects include feasibility studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning on existing or new substations and infrastructure.

What will you do:

• Develop HV and EHV project requirements into compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Manage the development and delivery of HV and EHV projects (cable, overhead, plant, civil) ensuring they meet time, cost, safety, and quality standards.
• Interface with customers and internal/external resources to develop and deliver HV & EHV projects.
• Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for HV and EHV projects.
• Communicate effectively with engineering and industrial teams.
• Coordinate external service providers and manage commercial aspects.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

• Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience managing large, complex HV and EHV substation projects through all project phases.
• Strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution plant operations, controls, and systems such as AIS/GIS switchgear, Protection & Control, Power Transformers, underground cables, and overhead lines.
• Options engineering to select suitable substation configurations based on functional requirements.
• Experience delivering CAPEX and customer connection projects at voltages from 33kV to 400kV, from initiation to closure.
• Design knowledge of AIS & GIS substations up to 400kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards for HV and EHV plant, including earthing and electrical clearances.
• Understanding of H&S and CDM requirements for large-scale projects.
• Ability to act as ‘Designer’ and ‘Principal Designer’ under CDM regulations.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation related to electrical substation design.
