A little more about your role…

Our Energy Networks business is home to over two hundred talented people ranging from our early career professionals through to established engineers and project managers. We work throughout the UK and beyond in the Off-Shore Electricity Transmission, On-Shore Electricity Transmission and Distribution markets to help keep the lights on!

WSP’s T&D team delivers electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. This role is to project manage pre-construction and construction activities (from design to energisation) for large-scale high voltage infrastructure and grid connections at voltage levels normally between 33kV and 400kV.

We are currently recruiting for a EHV OHL Project Manager to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) team.

What will you do:

  1. Develop EHV (33kV up to and including 132kV) projects initial functional requirement into compliant cost-effective engineering solutions.
  2. Project manage the development and delivery of EHV OHL projects (33kV up to and including 132kV) to time, cost, safety and quality.
  3. Interface with customers as well as internal and external resources to develop and deliver EHV OHL projects.
  4. Undertake the role of CDM Designer and/or Principal Designer for developed EHV OHL projects.
  5. Effectively communicate with internal engineering and industrial resource.
  6. Coordinate external service providers and administer commercial.
  7. Visit sites to assess project requirements, meet with project team/contractors, monitor work progress, safety audits, discuss engineering difficulties, etc.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  1. Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Experience managing medium-large scale EHV OHL projects (33kV up to and including 132kV) throughout the full project lifecycle from initiation, specification and design, tendering, construction, energisation through to project closure.
  3. A good understanding of electrical distribution plant items such as Switchgear, Protection, Power Transformers and Underground power cables.
  4. Knowledge of applicable engineering standards.
  5. Excellent understanding of the H&S and CDM requirements.
  6. An ability to undertake the role of ‘Designer’ and ‘Principal Designer’ under the CDM regulations.
  7. The ability to travel to client’s sites and offices within North East of England and Yorkshire.
