Job summary

A leading global technical services provider is seeking an ES&H Professional to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards across various project phases. This role involves developing safety management plans, engaging with stakeholders, and conducting inspections to promote a culture of safety within projects. Ideal candidates will have a strong educational background in engineering along with significant experience in regulated industries such as Defence or Nuclear.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience in preparing Construction Plans under CDM.
  • Ability to obtain and secure UK Security Clearance.

We are currently recruiting for an ES&H Professional to join us permanently.

As the ES&H Professional, you will proactively support project teams to ensure operations comply with Amentum's and our clients' health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly regarding the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing the Project HSE Management Plans
  2. Planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating HSE during design, procurement, installation, commissioning, pre-construction, construction, and demolition works
  3. Assessing health and safety risks and implementing control measures
  4. Liaising with client CDM duty holders and stakeholders to manage risks effectively
  5. Preparing and reviewing Construction/Demolition Phase Plans
  6. Ensuring health and safety management arrangements are in place throughout the project
  7. Supporting management reviews and walk-downs
  8. Engaging with workers regarding health, safety, and welfare
  9. Providing suitable welfare facilities from the start and maintaining them
  10. Ensuring all workers have the necessary skills, knowledge, and training
  11. Managing site access and security measures
  12. Liaising with stakeholders to share relevant safety information
  13. Conducting inspections and audits of work locations and supply chains
  14. Promoting positive safety behaviors and attitudes
  15. Investigating incidents and preparing reports with root cause analysis
  16. Using incident reporting tools like IndustrySafe and Client ITRAC
  17. Assisting with risk assessments and method statements
  18. Delivering HSE briefings and training sessions
  19. Leading HSE meetings and fostering stakeholder relations
  20. Communicating with enforcement authorities regarding compliance and incidents
  21. Developing HSE objectives and KPIs aligned with project requirements
  22. Keeping teams updated on relevant legislation
  23. Maintaining HSE risk and compliance registers
  24. Monitoring adherence to HSE policies and procedures

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Relevant engineering degree preferred, or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award, or NVQ Level 5
  • NEBOSH Certificate or higher qualification
  • Experience in Defence or Nuclear sectors advantageous
  • HSE auditing training and/or certification
  • Knowledge of waste management legal requirements in construction/demolition
  • Environmental credentials and experience are highly beneficial
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a highly regulated industry
  • Construction site experience in a key role
  • Experience in preparing Construction Plans under CDM
  • Experience managing HSE at the design stage and supply chain activities
  • Ability to meet SC and DV security clearance requirements, including residence in the UK for at least 5 years
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in auditing
  • Ability to obtain and secure UK Security Clearance
