Job summary

GDS Partners in Blyth, United Kingdom, is recruiting an EHS Lead to drive Health, Safety and Environmental performance on a major data centre project. The role requires NEBOSH or equivalent and 7+ years of construction HSE experience, with proven leadership on large-scale data centre schemes.

Qualifications

  • A relevant Health & Safety qualification, e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience in Health & Safety within the construction sector.
  • Previous experience on Data Centre, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Environmental, Health & Safety activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor H&S policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Promote a positive H&S culture across all site activities.
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Review RAMS and other H&S documentation.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with company standards and project requirements.
  • Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and H&S training.
  • Attend project and H&S meetings and report performance to senior management.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and sustainability objectives are met.
  • Drive continuous improvement across H&S performance.

GDS Partners are recruiting an EHS Lead on behalf of a leading Main Contractor for a permanent position based in Blyth, United Kingdom.

About the Role

  • Salary of up to £100,000 + Comprehensive Package (DOE).

Main Duties Will Include, But Not Be Limited To:
  • Lead all Environmental, Health & Safety activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Promote a positive Health & Safety culture across all site activities.

To Be Successful in Your Application, You Will Possess the Following:
  • A relevant Health & Safety qualification, e.g., NEBOSH or equivalent.
  • 7+ years' experience within Health & Safety in the construction sector.
  • Previous experience in Data Centres, mission-critical, industrial, or large-scale construction projects is highly essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
  • Experience leading Health & Safety on major construction projects.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture.
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom.
