Job summary

Bimplus is recruiting an experienced EHS Lead to spearhead Environmental, Health & Safety delivery on a major data centre project in Blyth, England. You will lead EHS initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture across site teams and subcontractors.

With 7–10 years in EHS roles within construction, you will develop plans, review RAMS, conduct inspections, and deliver training to maintain top safety performance while aligning with company standards and UK

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7–10 years' experience in an EHS/HSE role within construction or engineering environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the project lifecycle.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor project EHS plans, procedures, and safety management systems.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture across all levels of the project team.
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and control potential hazards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure EHS requirements are achieved.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure all site activities meet company and client safety standards.
  • Review and approve RAMS, permits, and safety documentation.
  • Lead incident investigations, reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records including audits, inspections, incidents, and performance reports.
  • Attend daily briefings, safety meetings, and project reviews.
  • Prepare and issue EHS reports and performance updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, sustainability requirements, and project standards.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote best practice across Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical construction activities.

Job description

We're recruiting for an experienced EHS Lead to join one of Europe's leading data centre contractors on a major mission-critical data centre project based in Blyth, England.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to take a lead role in managing Environmental, Health & Safety delivery across a large-scale construction project, ensuring compliance, improving safety performance, and embedding a proactive safety culture across all site operations.

As EHS Lead, you will work closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, subcontractors, and site teams to lead EHS initiatives, monitor compliance, and ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards and UK legislation.

Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years' experience in an EHS/HSE role within construction or engineering environments.

  • Proven experience leading EHS activities on large-scale construction projects.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification essential.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractor compliance and safety performance.
  • Ability to influence teams and drive a positive safety culture.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, or Infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
