Job summary

Rubicon Consulting is seeking an Offshore EHS Analyst for a 6 month contract based in Newcastle to provide professional Environment, Health and Safety support to offshore operations onboard the SOV. Qualifications

  • Recognised occupational health and safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
  • Proven offshore EHS experience in wind, marine, oil and gas, or similar offshore environments.
  • Experience supporting risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Good understanding of UK offshore health and safety legislation and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the offshore EHS focal point onboard the SOV.
  • Provide practical EHS advice to offshore technicians, crew, and management.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through leadership, engagement and coaching.
  • Support implementation of company, client and project-specific EHS requirements.
  • Facilitate risk assessments, toolbox talks, and pre-job planning activities.
  • Conduct inspections, safety tours and assurance activities to verify compliance.
  • Monitor effectiveness of critical controls for offshore and height-related activities.
  • Support permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work as required.
  • Assist in incident reporting, investigation and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and maintain readiness.
  • Support environmental compliance and waste management onboard.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly EHS performance reports.

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an EHS Analyst on a 6 month contract, based in Newcastle.

Role Overview

The Offshore EHS Advisor is responsible for providing professional Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) support to offshore operations onboard the Service Operation Vessel (SOV). The role focuses on promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements, and supporting the safe execution of offshore activities.

The Offshore EHS Advisor works closely with technicians, supervisors, vessel management, and client representatives to identify risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance across all offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities
EHS Leadership & Support
  • Act as the primary offshore EHS focal point onboard the SOV.
  • Provide practical EHS advice and support to offshore technicians, supervisors, vessel crew, and management teams.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership, engagement, coaching, and workforce interaction.
  • Support the implementation of company, client, and project-specific EHS requirements.
Risk Management & Assurance
  1. Facilitate risk assessments, task reviews, toolbox talks, and pre-job planning activities.
  2. Conduct workplace inspections, safety tours, observations, and assurance activities to verify compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
  3. Monitor the effectiveness of critical controls associated with offshore and work-at-height activities.
  4. Support the management of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work where required.
  5. Incident Management
  6. Support the reporting, investigation, and follow-up of incidents, near misses, observations, and unsafe conditions.
  7. Assist in identifying root causes and developing corrective and preventive actions.
  8. Track and monitor actions to ensure timely closure and effectiveness.
Emergency Preparedness
  • Coordinate and support emergency response drills and exercises in line with project and vessel requirements.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
  • Provide guidance to ensure emergency arrangements remain effective and compliant.
Environmental Management
  1. Support environmental compliance and promote good environmental practices onboard.
  2. Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, spill control, and environmental reporting requirements.
  3. Assist in the implementation of environmental improvement initiatives
Reporting & Performance
  • Maintain accurate EHS records, inspection reports, and performance data.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly EHS reports and provide operational safety updates to management.
  • Monitor trends, identify emerging risks, and support the development of improvement plans.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
  1. Recognised Occupational Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent).
  2. Valid GWO Basic Safety Training certification.
  3. Previous offshore EHS experience within offshore wind, marine, oil and gas, or other offshore environments.
  4. Experience supporting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  5. Good understanding of UK offshore health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and EHS reporting systems.
Desirable
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level safety qualification.
  • Environmental management experience.
  • Internal auditor qualification.
  • Knowledge of G+, IMCA, RenewableUK, and client-specific standards.
  • Experience working onboard Service Operation Vessels within offshore wind projects.
