Job summary

GDS Partners is recruiting an EHS Advisor on behalf of a leading M&E contractor for a permanent role based in Cardiff, Wales. You will oversee health and safety on major construction projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, data centre, and mission-critical sectors, promoting a proactive safety culture and high HSE standards.

Salary £60,000 - £75,000+ package depending on experience, with ongoing training, progression opportunities, and a strong pipeline of secured work.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Health and Safety qualification (e.g. Degree or NEBOSH).
  • Experience in construction or M&E sector.
  • Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Promote a proactive HSE culture across project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Review RAMS, permits to work and other safety docs.
  • Support site management with HSE advice.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and safety briefings.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and maintain HSE standards.
  • Produce HSE reports and maintain site records.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies.

About the client:

Our client is a well-established Mechanical & Electrical Contractor delivering large-scale projects across the commercial, industrial, healthcare, data centre, and mission-critical sectors throughout the UK. They have built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects safely and efficiently and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental performance across all operations.

About the role:
  • Permanent position based in Cardiff, Wales.

Main duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and workplace risk assessments.
  • Promote a proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental culture across all project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Review RAMS, permits to work, and other site safety documentation.
  • Support site management teams with Health & Safety advice and guidance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings.
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and maintain high HSE standards across the site.
  • Produce HSE reports and maintain accurate site records.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies where required.
Requirements:
