Job summary

Torbay Council is seeking an enthusiastic EHCP Officer to coordinate Education, Health and Care Plans for children and young people with SEND across Torbay, overseeing statutory assessments and managing a caseload. You will work with families, schools, health services, social care and other agencies to ensure timely provision and positive outcomes, with hybrid working and DBS checks.

This role involves coordinating sensitive cases and ensuring compliance with SEND legislation.

Torbay Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated EHCP Officer to join our SEND and Inclusion Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in coordinating Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and supporting children, young people, and families across Torbay.

About the Role

As an EHCP Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating statutory assessments and planning for children and young people with SEND. You will oversee a caseload of EHCPs, working closely with families, schools, health professionals, social care colleagues, and other partners to ensure that children receive appropriate educational provision and support.

• Coordinating and drafting Education, Health and Care Plans.
• Managing complex casework and statutory SEND processes.
• Monitoring and reviewing EHCPs through Annual Reviews.
• Working collaboratively with schools, colleges, health services, social care, and families.

• A broad understanding of issues surrounding general developments in educational assessment and intervention.
• Knowledge of working with schools as systems.
• Knowledge of legislation and procedures relating to assessment and provision for children with special educational needs.
• An understanding of the implications of the emerging changes to legislation relating to special educational needs.
