Job summary

Learning Curve Group are seeking an EHCP experienced Learning Support Advisor/Mentor to assist learners with additional learning needs at Exeter Construction Academy. This fixed-term, 14‑hour week role concentrates on Post-16 learners with EHCPs, requiring a calm, patient approach and collaborative work with tutors and SENCO.

The role emphasises using EHCP plans, providing modified materials, and documenting progress while supporting well‑being and life skills.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Minimum of 2 years experience working with Post 16 Learners.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Post 16 learners with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCP).
  • GCSE, 'O' Level or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.
  • NVQ3 or equivalent as recognised by the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of Learners.
  • Have training in aspects of SEN, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism, SEMH etc.
  • Calm and patient attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structured support using a range of effective interventions (as per their EHCP Plan) within a class and/or outdoor setting.
  • To aid access to the full range of learning experiences and provide modified materials as required e.g. worksheets, games, visual prompt cards etc.
  • Provide positive reinforcements, praise, and emotional support to learners.
  • Advise and support tutors with making necessary adjustments for learners with learning support needs.
  • Ensure Learning Support Plans and contact logs are updated accurately and timely.
  • Work as part of the team to ensure that the well‑being and personal development of the learner enhance their learning opportunities and life skills.
  • Agree on learning support aims and interventions with the learner and set these out in the Learning Support Plan.
  • Provide regular feedback to the SENCO and, where necessary, relevant outside agencies about any pupil's difficulties and progress.
  • Contribute to the Learners' annual review by writing a brief report and attending the meeting
  • Foster links with External Agencies and Carers
  • Facilitate inclusion in small group activities with learners and support interaction between them.
  • Attend in service training and relevant meetings relevant to the post in order to keep up to date with developments
  • Carry out tasks and responsibilities under the direction of the SENCO
  • Comply with the Safeguarding, Prevent and Health and Safety Policies and be vigilant to potential concerns and risks at all times
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Provide learners, customers and colleagues with support, advice guidance as part of your everyday role
  • Conduct your role in line with the company values and expected behaviours
  • Promote equal opportunities and recognition of diversity throughout the company

We are looking for an EHCP experienced learning support Advisor/Mentor who can support learners with additional learning needs. This is a unique role for 2 days a week working within a Exeter Construction Academy. Knowledge and experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) is essential. If you are passionate about making a real difference to young people.

Role Information

Our academies' provision at Learning Curve Group supports thousands of learners to gain hands‑on experience in their chosen profession, whether that be Hair & Beauty, Military, or Construction.

As a Learning Support Advisor at our Exeter Construction Academy, you will assist our learners with additional learning needs at one of our academies. This unique role is part time on a fixed-term basis. A strong background in supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) is essential.

Please note that this is on a 44-week term basis with closures as follows:

October Half Term (1 week)

December Half Term (2 weeks)

February Half Term (1 week)

April Half Term (1 Week)

May Half Term (1 Week)

Key Duties & Responsibilities
