Trade Compliance Specialist

Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 7:00am - 5:00pm

Overview

As a Full-time Trade Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in executing Fastenal's import/export compliance program and facilitating the efficient entry of goods from overseas. Your responsibilities will include working directly with our Overseas Logistics and Accounts Payable teams to identify products for import, ensure accurate classification of goods, and file appropriately to meet legal and regulatory requirements. You will also collaborate with global customs and logistics teams to achieve Fastenal's strategic compliance goals.

Responsibilities
  • Work with U.S. Customs to clear Fastenal's imported products globally.
  • Assist in managing Fastenal's trade lane RFQ process.
  • Manage an audit program to review and address gaps in the import/export process.
  • Review, audit, and approve bill payments for service providers and US customs.
  • Coordinate with Customs Officers to resolve specific entry issues.
  • Assist departments with Harmonized Tariff Code information for products.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for all entries.
  • Communicate upcoming regulatory changes to relevant departments.
Required Qualifications
  • Possess or be working towards a degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or have relevant import/export/logistics experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic math skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service oriented.
  • Strong organization, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Problem-solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Alignment with Fastenal's core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Pass a drug screening (applicable in US, Puerto Rico, and Guam).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recognized trade compliance certifications (e.g., CCS, CCE, LCB).
  • Previous experience working at Fastenal.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000, plus potential bonuses and commissions.
