Your company
Our client is a well-established design consultancy with 30+ years of experience in building services, Energy, Sustainability, Lift & IT fields based out of Glasgow's city centre.
Their team of experts covers all traditional Building Services elements, enhanced by their skillset in Energy and Sustainability with BREEAM.
The vast majority of their projects are intricate, complex, and unique MOD and defence contracts, requiring high standards of work across the board.
Due to the nature of their work, all candidates will need to hold, or meet the criteria to hold security clearance to MOD SC level.
Your new role- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
- Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
- Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Hevp, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, etc.
- Preparing technical specifications.
- Collaborate with the BIM team to prepare models and drawings.
- Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
- Site surveys, inspections, and monitoring site works.
- Report and technical note writing.
- Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
- Adherence to all quality, environmental & governance processes.
- Managing own workload, updating forward plan of workload regularly, and working to time allocations.
- Managing elements of project delivery and understanding budget costings.
- Reviewing progress, including reporting any anomalies and changes of scope to the project lead.
- Assist with technical development of junior staff.
What you'll need to succeed- Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
- Chartered Engineer, or working towards CEng with CIBSE or IET.
- Good level of computer literacy in a range of mechanical digital tools - Hevp, IES, HAP, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.
- Awareness of building physics principles.
- Experience of working in a design consultancy and/or some experience of working within a contractor design environment is beneficial.
- Good knowledge of appropriate technical standards.
- Able to take charge of personal project deliverables, make decisions on developing the discipline design elements, act on own initiative and operate proactively.
- Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients will be useful.
