Job summary

Lead and manage the development, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of high-quality training programmes measured by audit processes across the region.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure training initiatives meet organisational goals and compliance requirements.

Support and mentor all staff to ensure continuous professional development and improved performance outcomes.

Lead and mentor the local Training team to deliver work-based training programmes.

Provide specialist training and development advice to staff and managers using PHW Infection Training Policy and PHW POD guidance.

Responsible for procurement, including selecting suppliers and authorising purchases, considering cost, quality, delivery, and reliability for staff training and development activities.

Manage staff sickness absence, My Contribution process, and departmental work allocation as line manager.

Design and devise training as a primary job function.

Manage the operation of multiple systems for creating, storing, and updating information.

Main duties of the job
  1. Design, implement, and manage regional training programmes aligned with the organisation's objectives for the Infection Division.
  2. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to identify training needs for the Infection Division.
  3. Ensure all training activities comply with industry regulations and best practices, promoting diversity and inclusion.
  4. Evaluate and audit training programmes.
  5. Lead the local T&D team to plan work to meet T&D requirements in induction, mandatory training, competence-based training, professional training, management training, risk assessment, and T&D audits, ensuring staff maintain appropriate skills and providing assurance figures for senior management.
  6. Collaborate with other regional training leads to develop policies and procedures, including Training Policies, Training and Competency records, Learning Agreements, and SOPs, to satisfy the laboratory Quality Management System and maintain ISO 15189:2022 accreditation and professional programme accreditations.
  7. Maintain a network service delivery model for microbiology training requirements, ensuring standardization aligned with ISO 15189:2022 accreditation.
  8. Lead, coach, mentor, and support trainers, fostering a culture of continuous professional development and providing feedback.
  9. Encourage a positive, inclusive learning environment that promotes participation from all employees.
  10. Work with HR and infection leadership to align training with performance and development strategies.
