Job description

Building a sustainable tomorrow

BAM FM is recruiting a part-time Fitness Instructor to join the FM team in Crawley. Reporting directly to the Leisure Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the leisure business.
You will be required to work 25 hours per week on a shift rota including evenings and weekends.

Your mission

1. Assist in the upkeep of the gym to provide a safe and pleasant space for members.
2. Have a hands-on approach and be willing to carry out all reasonable duties to ensure the smooth running of the fitness centre, including setting up for classes and bookings.
3. Have an awareness of health and safety issues in a gymnasium and the ability to carry out basic first aid.
4. Carry out general maintenance and cleaning duties in the fitness area.
5. Understand the computerized membership system, cash handling, and cashing-up procedures, as there will be reception duties involved within this role.
6. Carry out member inductions and regularly update programs.
7. Teach classes, demonstrating techniques and methods of participation, and offer alternatives to accommodate varying levels of fitness.
8. Promote the group fitness timetable and actively aim to increase member participation and new memberships.
9. Opportunity to do personal training sessions in the centre.

Who are we looking for?

1. Experience of working within a similar role is preferred but not essential.
2. Possess excellent communication skills and be able to communicate at all levels with customers and internal departments alike.
3. Provide a warm and friendly environment for our members.
4. Minimum level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification is essential. Spin qualification is preferred but not essential as training can be provided.
