Excellent opportunity for a z/OS System Programmer to join our Cloud Infrastructure & Security services practice. Cognizant Infrastructure Services provides IT infrastructure & Cloud services across various industry verticals, including Consulting/Professional and Managed Services, covering Enterprise Computing, Cloud services, Security Services, DevOps, Data Centres, End User Computing, Service Desk, Network Services, and Environment Management Services.

Role Details:

Travel Requirement: The role requires travel to a client site in Sheffield 2-3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Upgrading, maintaining, and supporting the z/OS operating system.
2. Upgrading, maintaining, and supporting ISV products, especially from IBM and Computer Associates (CA).
3. Providing production support.
4. Mainframe systems programming.
5. Having knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, and JCL.
6. Working independently with IBM and CA product knowledge.
7. Providing off-hours support for software changes and participating in an on-call rota.

Key Skills and Experience:

1. Experience in upgrading, maintaining, and supporting z/OS and ISV products from IBM and CA.
2. Extensive experience in mainframe systems programming.
3. Proficiency in z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
4. Ability to work independently with IBM and CA products.
5. Ability to set and achieve challenging goals exceeding standards.
6. Excellent communication skills to articulate complex information effectively.
7. Ability to build effective networks and develop trusting relationships.
8. Experience in creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans.
9. Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance.

Nice to Have:

1. Skills in Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx, and CLIST.
2. Proficiency in Top Secret security skills.
3. Experience with performance monitoring tools such as Omegamon, RMF, SMF, and SAS.
