Job description

Excellent opportunity for a z/OS System Programmer to join our Cloud Infrastructure & Security services practice. Cognizant Infrastructure Services provides IT infrastructure & Cloud services across various industry verticals, including Consulting/Professional and Managed Services, covering Enterprise Computing, Cloud, Security, DevOps, Data Centres, End User Computing, Service Desk, Network Services, and Environment Management.

Role requires travel to client site in Sheffield 2-3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Upgrading, maintaining, and supporting the z/OS operating system.
2. Supporting ISV products, especially from IBM and Computer Associates (CA).
3. Providing production support.
4. Mainframe systems programming.
5. Knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
6. Ability to work independently with IBM and CA products.
7. Providing off-hours support for software changes and participating in an on-call rota.

Key Skills and Experience:

1. Experience with z/OS system upgrades, maintenance, and support.
2. Proficiency in supporting IBM and CA ISV products.
3. Extensive mainframe systems programming experience.
4. Strong knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
5. Ability to work independently.
6. Proven track record of setting and achieving challenging goals.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. Ability to build effective networks across business areas.
9. Experience in creating and implementing business/operating plans.
10. Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance.

Nice to Have:

• Skills in Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx, CLIST.
• Proficiency in Top Secret.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools like Omegamon, RMF, SMF, SAS.
