Controls and Instrumentation Engineer, Alton
This is a permanent role with a leading organisation in the automation and energy sector, based in Alton, United Kingdom. The role involves maintaining and improving process control and safety systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify plant improvement areas and develop project scopes and schedules.
- Design and implement new process control and safety systems for capital projects.
- Monitor budgets for C&I activities, ensuring cost-effective performance.
- Lead site functional safety initiatives, including development, maintenance, and support.
- Review and enhance Safety Instrumented Systems documentation to meet international standards.
- Specify, test, and commission SIS and control system upgrades.
- Provide technical support, diagnosis, root cause analysis, and remedial work for operations.
- Supervise and lead C&I Technicians.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory documentation and certification requirements.
Job Requirements:
- HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering field or working towards it.
- Working towards professional engineering membership and registration.
- Understanding of control and instrumentation standards in oil and gas operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach.
- Experience with plant operations and collaboration with operational personnel in the energy sector.
- Ability to diagnose control system faults through root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems design, maintenance, and operation.
- Knowledge of IEC 61508, 61511, and BS EN 60079 standards.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver engineering tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills across all management levels.
- Reliable, diligent, and able to work under pressure.
- Proficiency with PLC software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
