ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR – FLOOD RISK & WATER Manchester or Leeds (Hybrid)

Their teams are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development. They currently have several opportunities within their Flood Risk & Water team due to ongoing growth and recent major project wins.

Role

They are seeking an Associate Director to support their Water Engineering teams across the UK. The role is ideally based out of their Manchester or Leeds offices, but flexible for the right candidate to be based elsewhere in the UK. Successful candidates will lead a variety of major infrastructure projects in both private and public sectors, including flood alleviation schemes, surface water separation projects, and collaborations with high-profile clients like the Ministry of Defence and water utilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver flood risk and surface water separation projects from solution development to design, following relevant guidance.
  • Engage in strategic catchment planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative client relationships.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, including hydraulic modellers, engineers, and environmental consultants.
  • Support bidding processes and develop new client propositions.
About the Person

Our client seeks high-caliber, experienced individuals who can:

  • Demonstrate experience in flood risk and surface water projects.
  • Possess strategic planning and decision-making expertise.
  • Have excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Build and lead collaborative relationships.
  • Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Be proficient in IT systems like ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civils 3D, and Microsoft Office.
  • Be educated to degree level or equivalent and Chartered with ICE or CIWEM.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience in bidding and client development.
  • Hold a full UK Driving License.
