ROLE SUMMARY:

The data scientist will be responsible for leading the development of monitoring and market abuse detection algorithms within the Millennium IT Surveillance System, as well as active involvement in developing our internal Surveillance system, a website hosted within the cloud utilising ML/AI and advanced coding techniques.

Quantitative Surveillance & Technology are responsible for managing our internal surveillance alert code as part of RIE responsibilities and external products alongside financial markets analytics tools and visualisations.

The UK Regulation department oversees secondary market trading to ensure it is orderly, monitors markets for potential market abuse, manipulation, and breaches of the Exchange's rules, and manages compliance with regulatory responsibilities, including relationships with the FCA and providing regulatory guidance to UK entities in the Group.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Gather data from multiple sources, use statistical techniques and tools to identify patterns
  • Utilize programming languages such as Scala, Python, Java, or SQL for analysis and modeling
  • Build data science products and solutions using data science techniques
  • Write optimized code for LSEG products and solutions
  • Validate and fine-tune models to ensure accuracy and reliability
  • Collaborate with other data scientists, stakeholders, and engineers to integrate models into systems
  • Document processes, model development steps, and results
  • Stay updated with trends and advancements in data science, ML, and related technologies
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • PhD or master's in a highly quantitative field such as computer science, physics, applied mathematics, or engineering
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong programming experience in Java, Scala, Python, SQL
  • Understanding of finance and capital markets is desirable
