Job summary

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior/Principal Educational Psychologist for the East of England Children and Young People’s Gender Service, based in Newmarket.

The post holder will deliver high-quality educational psychology assessments and therapies for CYP with gender diversity, while providing supervision, training and consultation to staff within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate doctorate in Educational Psychology (or equivalent), as accredited by the BPS.
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Completion of further post qualification specialist relevant training, including training in the supervision of trainee practitioner psychologists.
• Training in two or more distinct evidence-based psychological approaches and lifespan/developmental psychology.
• Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
• Post-qualification accreditation in evidence-based psychological approaches e.g. CBT, DNA-V/ACT, CFT, mindfulness, etc.
• BABCP accreditation, additional training in a specialist area of psychological practice relevant to CYP with gender diversity.
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of complex cases in CYP with gender diversity.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessments and interventions for children and young people in the CYP gender service.
• Supervise and train staff including trainee psychologists and unqualified staff.
• Offer supervision, training and consultation to the MDT and partners.
• Develop systems for governance, outcome measurement and CPD across the service.
• Work within professional guidelines and contribute to service quality improvement.

Job description

To work with managers and clinical leads, to ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality psycho-social service within the East of England Children and Young People's Gender Service. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of educational psychological practice within the Service. To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the supervision and support of all practitioner psychologists and unqualified staff within the Service. This also includes ensuring there are clear systems in place for effective outcome measurement, recruitment, professional appraisal and the identification of CPD needs across the Service., At Cambridge University Hospitals, we want to do all we can to support good working days. • oExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in an area of clinical practice relevant to CYP with gender diversity.
• oEvidence of having worked as a specialist under supervision in an area of clinical practice relevant to CYP with gender diversity.
• oExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature in an area of practice relevant to CYP with gender diversity.
• oWorking as a qualified Educational Psychologist with children with physical health problems and/or with children/families and parents.
• oExperience of working with a wide range of psychological and comorbid presentations.
• oExperience of multi-agency working (e.g. with schools and other statutory and third sector organisations).
• oExperience of exercising responsibility for children and young people's psychological care and treatment, both autonomously and within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.
• oExperience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with other disciplines including medical and nursing.
• oExperience of providing supervision and consultation to other staff including psychologists.
• oExperience of teaching, training and/or professional supervision.
• oExperience of running groups for CYP and parents / carers.
• oExperience of leading quality improvement initiatives at a service or organisational level, including demonstratable impact on outcomes or service delivery., oExperience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with children and young people with long term health conditions.

Cambridge University Hospital Foundation Trust (CUH) is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join the new NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (East of England) in the role of Senior/Principal Educational Psychologist (Band 8B - NHS Agenda for Change Scale). As part of the Paediatrics Department at CUH but based in a newly refurbished community setting in Newmarket, the successful applicant will have extensive experience of delivering high quality, evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people. The post holder will provide assessments, as well as supervision, training, and consultation to staff. They will be a source of expertise in education and psychometrics to the MDT. The service operates Monday-Friday. Full or part-time (minimum 3 days per week including Tuesdays and Wednesdays) considered.
