The National Autistic Society is the UK’s leading charity for autistic people. Since 1962, we’ve been transforming lives, changing attitudes, and helping to create a society that works for autistic adults and children.
We transform lives by providing support, guidance, and practical advice for the 700,000 autistic adults and children in the UK, as well as their three million family members and carers. Autistic people turn to us at key moments or challenging times in their lives, such as getting a diagnosis, going to school, or finding work.
We change attitudes by improving public understanding of autism and the difficulties many autistic people face. We also work closely with businesses, local authorities, and government to help them provide more autism-friendly spaces, deliver better services, and improve laws.
We have come a long way, but it is not good enough. There is still much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation, and build a brighter future for people on the spectrum. With your help, we can make it happen.
What we can offer you:
We are passionate about supporting autistic people into work and particularly encourage applications from autistic individuals. We aim to support autistic people from all backgrounds and strive to reflect diversity in our staff and volunteers. We especially welcome applications from people from minority groups currently underrepresented in our workforce. Together, we can create a society that works for autistic people.
Who we are looking for:
An enthusiastic and committed Practitioner Psychologist to work closely with our transdisciplinary team, which includes Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Positive Behaviour Coordinators, and Specialist Teaching Staff. Some managerial experience and experience working with children diagnosed with autism are desirable.
The NAS’s Clinical Lead for Psychology will provide regular clinical support and professional development. We are seeking an Educational Psychologist at Robert Ogden School in Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire. The school caters to pupils aged 5 to 19 years, and you will work with autistic young adults, children, and their families in a school setting. We offer day placements.
The Psychology Service is a vital part of the school’s professional support team, aiming to improve the educational, social, environmental, and developmental experiences of our autistic pupils.
We seek an experienced Educational Psychologist who:
We offer a comprehensive induction program, ongoing learning and development opportunities, regular one-to-one meetings, annual appraisals, and support. As a Psychologist at NAS, you will join a large network of over 15 psychologists and therapists working across NAS schools. We are committed to supporting staff development through supervision and CPD opportunities.
Your working hours will be 37 per week, with 45 days of annual leave, including bank holidays, to be taken during school closures and holidays.
