Job summary

NHS England is seeking a Training Programme Director to support the Head of School in delivering a broad range of education-related functions aligned to the NHS England mandate. The role focuses on learner supervision, assessment, experience, faculty engagement and outcomes, with emphasis on workforce transformation and multi-professional links.

Qualifications

• Current clinical commitment in the School/specialty.
• Significant experience with learners or doctors in training in an educational context.
• Experience in clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.
• Proven delivery track record in service and education.
• Experience in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years.
• Active involvement in appraisal processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee School programme management and advise the Head of School on specialty matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
• Lead recruitment to training posts and programmes and use educational resources to support learners.
• Manage postgraduate programme aspects: assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation.
• Attend School and related meetings; ensure compliance with Code of Practice and track information for NHS metrics.
• Undertake professional development and assist in early identification of trainees needing support.
• Facilitate career management and provide access to development resources.
