Job Description:
Description

We are seeking two Education Support Workers to join Harmeny on a part-time, fixed-term employment basis to provide learning support to pupils on a 1-2-1 basis within our primary school. The fixed-term element of the contract is dictated by funding through a local authority and will remain under regular review; the fixed-term contract is initially for one year and it may be extended after review.

Working closely with the Class Teacher and Education Teams, the Education Support Workers will promote engagement with learning within the classroom and other learning environments. They will contribute to a culture and ethos within a highly nurturing and supporting environment, in order to provide the secure base that children and young people require to engage in their learning.

Applicants should have a willingness and ability to work with pupils who have additional support needs. We are particularly keen to employ a member of staff who has previous experience of working in a school or care setting. They must be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the pupils and their environment. It is also necessary for the post holder to have a good sense of humour, to be calm under pressure and to be able to put the child or young person at the centre of everything they do.

The successful candidates will be required to work 15 hours per week (0.42 FTE), 09:30am – 12:30pm, Monday - Friday, during term time only.

The role offers a competitive salary of £9,528.82 to £9,761.60 per annum(full-time equivalent salary is £25,134 to £25,748 per annum) plus an additional 5% allowance for extra duties within residential school, and an additional 5% allowance depending on qualifications. The allowances range from £476.44 to £488.08 per annum each.

Successful applicants will be required to join Disclosure Scotland’s Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. A driving licence allowing the use of our vehicles is desirable.
