Job summary

Bury College is seeking an Education Support Worker to assist learners with additional needs in a supportive college environment. The role involves in-class and out-of-class support to help learners participate and communicate, including mobility and sensory impairment support.

Role includes promoting independence, social skills, and participation in activities, with term-time only hours and benefits. Two contract types available: permanent and fixed-term.

Qualifications

• Confirmed qualification in education support or equivalent is essential.
• Experience with young people who have Additional Learning Support needs.
• A recognised qualification in support work or equivalent certification.
• Good level of Maths and English at minimum A*-C (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class and out-of-class support to learners with mobility or sensory impairments.
• Encourage learners to develop social skills and participate in work experience and trips.
• Support appropriate behaviour and ensure reasonable adjustments are met.
• Assist groups or individuals with identified learning difficulties/disabilities.
• Contribute to development of support strategies to promote independence.
