Job summary

Star Academies is seeking a Payroll and Pensions Manager to administer and report employees’ pension information to pension schemes, including Teachers’ Pension Scheme and Local Government Schemes. The role requires managing payroll cut-off dates and external reporting deadlines with HMRC.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of industry specific payroll and pension matters.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Management and coaching skills in leading a small central payroll and pensions team.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Staff onboarding experience.
• Experience in public sector defined benefit pension scheme administration processes and education specific terms and conditions.
• Payroll system implementation, configuration and management experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and report employees’ pension information to all pension schemes.
• Manage tight payroll cut-off dates alongside external reporting deadlines set by pension schemes and HMRC.
• Lead onboarding of new schools into the Trust’s payroll and pension schemes.
• Provide expert guidance on education sector payroll and pensions matters.
