A leading council in the UK is seeking a self-motivated individual for a fixed-term administrative role supporting the Safeguarding in Education Team. This part-time position requires excellent organisational and communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality service in a challenging environment. The role offers the opportunity for flexibility and teamwork while ensuring the safeguarding of children and young people.
This is a fixed-term post for maternity cover that will run until 20 March 2026, involving 17.5 hours per week, ideally split across five working days.
Secondment can be considered.
There is an opportunity to potentially combine this role with a permanent part-time admin position in the East Riding Supply Service, advertised separately. The combined role would total 37 hours per week for the duration of the contract. This role will cover the Safeguarding in Education Team admin duties in the morning, with the afternoon allocated to supporting the Supply Service Team. Both teams work closely together, with built-in flexibility to manage and prioritise workload. Although combined, the two posts will have separate line management, contracts of employment, and pay grades. The advert for the Supply Service Admin Assistant role will be published alongside this role, and candidates can apply for each post separately without the possibility of combining roles.
The Safeguarding in Education Team is part of the Directorate of Children, Families and Schools within the Children, Young People, Education and Schools service area. Its primary role is to support educational establishments in safeguarding and protecting children and young people.
We seek a self-motivated individual to support this team by providing comprehensive administrative support. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, committed to high-quality service, flexible, adaptable to change, and capable of working effectively in a challenging environment. Essential skills include excellent administrative and organisational abilities, high motivation, and a desire to deliver excellent service. Proficiency in IT and familiarity with various IT systems and software packages are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. A high level of customer service, confidentiality, and the ability to handle sensitive information are critical. Teamwork, meeting deadlines, and working independently are vital attributes for success in this role.
