Job summary

Dovetail and Slate is seeking an experienced education leader to join on-site at HMP Brixton as Assistant Manager - Quality of Teaching and Learning. You will lead quality assurance, staff development, and curriculum performance across Functional Skills, PSD, and vocational programmes to empower adult learners.

Working with the Education Manager, you will drive improvements, mentor staff, and coordinate with prison management and external partners to sustain high teaching standards in a secure

Qualifications

• Academic & Teaching Credentials: A First Degree or professional qualification alongside a recognised Level 5+ Teaching Qualification.
• Teaching Experience across Further Education, adult skills, or prison education settings.
• Quality & Curriculum Management: experience in managing curriculum development and quality assurance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site quality improvement initiatives, developmental observations, and assessment audits to raise standards and meet KPIs.
• Support the Education Manager with curriculum development to align with prison learners, awarding bodies, and post-release employers.
• Manage and mentor teaching staff, encouraging innovative approaches to improve retention, engagement, and qualifications.
• Implement robust quality systems to monitor learner outcomes and readiness for external inspections and internal audits.
• Collaborate with prison management, support practitioners, and external stakeholders to promote educational excellence.
