Job summary

North East Learning Trust is seeking a proactive Payroll Officer to support its modern, two-payroll service across schools. You will process term-time payments, pensions, statutory payments and payroll checks in a complex public sector setting.

Qualifications

• Bring strong payroll experience in education, schools, local government or public sector.
• Understand education payroll, including term-time calculations, statutory payments and pensions and payroll compliance.
• Able to process and reconcile payroll data across two payrolls.
• Excellent communication with employees, schools and HR.

Responsibilities

• Process, check and reconcile payroll data across two payrolls.
• Embed self-service improvements for employees and managers.
• Communicate proactively with schools, HR, pension providers and external contacts.
• Support onboarding of transferring schools and staff records into Trust systems.
• Ensure compliance with pensions and safeguarding requirements.
