Job summary

Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) is seeking a proactive People Advisor to deliver high‑quality HR advisory services across Plymouth, Cornwall and Devon school clusters. You will manage a diverse caseload, provide guidance to Senior Leadership Teams, and help develop HR policies in support of Trust priorities.

The role involves working primarily within assigned schools, plus time at the WeST HR Office in Plymouth.

Qualifications

• CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Significant experience in an HR advisory capacity managing a broad range of employee relations cases.
• Experience working with leaders to strengthen employee relations practices.
• Good knowledge of employment law and HR practice.
• Excellent written communication for non-specialist audiences.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confidence managing competing priorities and multiple workstreams.
• Strong digital skills and ability to learn new tools independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, commercially aware HR advisory services to an assigned portfolio of schools.
• Manage a diverse caseload and act as first point of contact for employee relations.
• Support development and improvement of HR policies and practices.
• Collaborate with school leaders and the WeST HR team to address local priorities.
