Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are inviting applications for the position of Education Healthcare Assistant to join a dedicated school team in Bournemouth. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with complex medical or educational needs.

About the School

This inclusive school stands as a beacon of hope and development for students with moderate to severe learning difficulties. The school fosters a nurturing atmosphere where every learner is respected, supported, and empowered. From early years through to post-16, pupils benefit from highly individualised support, small class sizes, and a curriculum enriched by therapy-based learning and specialist facilities including a hydrotherapy pool and multi-sensory environments.

Your Responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver 1:1 or small group support tailored to the medical and learning needs of students.
  • Assist with personal care, medical routines, and mobility needs where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and health professionals.
  • Promote independence, safety, and well-being in the classroom and wider school environment.
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to safeguarding protocols.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in an educational, care, or healthcare support setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of working with children or young people with SEN or complex needs.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond empathetically to student needs.
  • Relevant healthcare training (e.g., first aid, manual handling) is advantageous but not essential.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
