Job Title: Education Healthcare Assistant
Location: Wareham
Salary: GBP13.68 - GBP16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are on the lookout for a motivated Education Healthcare Assistant to join a forward-thinking school in Wareham. This is your opportunity to work in a unique educational setting surrounded by nature and hands-on vocational learning.

The School: The school is an education setting based for + years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Support the health and well-being of students aged + with Special Educational Needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and medical needs are met throughout their educational experience.
• Assist with the delivery of vocational and enterprise activities such as horticulture, agriculture, equine care, and animal care, providing health-related support as required during practical sessions.
• Monitor and manage individual healthcare plans, working closely with teaching staff, healthcare professionals, and families to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote independence and self-care skills among students, encouraging confidence and responsibility within both classroom and outdoor learning environments.
• Respond promptly to health-related incidents or emergencies, following safeguarding protocols and maintaining a safe environment across the 350-acre campus.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support holistic development and contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive educational setting.

Candidate Expectations:

• Experience or interest in supporting young people and adults (+) with Special Educational Needs, focusing on their health and well-being.
• Ability to work effectively in an outdoor, rural environment across a large 350-acre Dorset countryside site.
• Basic healthcare knowledge, including managing healthcare plans, medication administration, and responding to medical emergencies (training can be provided).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with students, families, healthcare professionals, and education staff.
• Empathy, patience, and a commitment to promoting independence and self-care skills in learners.
• Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety regulations, and confidentiality in an educational healthcare setting.
• A valid UK driving licence and a willingness to drive are essential for this role.
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
