Qualifications

• Knowledge of local government finance, accounting principles and financial information systems.
• Excellent ICT and spreadsheet skills are essential to this post.
• A HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline and/or previous experience in a similar accounting support role is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a financial accounting and advisory service through the provision of accurate, timely and relevant financial information in line with all relevant accounting codes, regulations and legislation.
• Support the delivery of a budget monitoring and control service which meets the needs of all budget holders, and ensures that the Council can fulfil its budget responsibilities.
• Support the operation and development of financial information systems, through systems administration, systems management and control, as well as supporting relevant project teams as appropriate.
• Support the performance of the Finance team through a culture of team work and flexibility, contributing to the overall success of the Council.
• Work to continuously improve service delivery and performance of the Finance team.
