Job summary

Nature Portfolio in London, UK, seeks an Associate or Senior Editor for Scientific Reports to support the Chief Editor and Deputy Editors in managing the Editorial Board and decision-making processes across the journal. You will help expand the journal's reach through conference attendance and outreach initiatives, while ensuring rapid publication and high-quality peer review.

This full-time role is based in our London office on a hybrid working basis, with travel to conferences and EBMs as

Qualifications

• PhD-level research experience in engineering or computer sciences.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of and interest in science in general.
• Highly self-motivated and achievement-oriented.
• Strong workload management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily management of journal workflow, acting as handling editor on manuscripts and providing rapid peer-review decisions.
• Support content development with Editorial Board on commissioning and publishing collections.
• Establish and maintain relationships with EBMs; support recruitment and training of new EBMs.
• Resolve pre- and post-publication issues, including authorship, scope, ethics and consent, misconduct.
• Engage with international and national conferences and lab visits; contribute to Editorial Board meetings.
• Contribute to policy development and implement editorial policies.
