The Payments Association is seeking a highly motivated Editorial Director to lead the company’s publishing and membership operations, ensuring a consistently high quality and reviewing content to ensure it meets customer needs.
The individual will play a key role in leading and managing the company’s policy, projects, editorial and content marketing teams to maximise engagement and value for members, as well as grow the association’s industry presence.

About the role
We are seeking a results-driven leader who can take ownership of The Payments Association’s content strategy.
Reporting to the CEO, the Editorial Director will own The Payments Association’s content strategy. They will be responsible for researching market developments and customer sentiment in relation to content creation and working collaboratively with all departments to ensure we create member value and grow our industry voice.
The role requires keeping track of industry developments and trends through companies. This will allow the Editorial Director to collaborate strategically with the wider business.
Keyresponsibilities
•Ensure department achieves set objectives and support the successful performance and delivery of the content strategy, project working groups and policy and stakeholder engagement activities.
•Manage and support each team member across their areas and responsibilities for content creation/delivery
•Support the production of Payments Intelligence and Payments Review to ensure they meet each publication's brief and are hitting set KPIs.
•Ensure members use the content benefits permitted in their membership agreements .
•Gather and interpret customer insights in collaboration with colleagues in sales and marketing .
• Use of our content and content marketing to grow our profile and awareness of our work .
• Maximise member engagement within content to support the satisfaction and retention of TPA members .
• Lead the editorial strategy, informed by customer insight, to deliver high-value business information to members .
• Develop the voice of the association through content, policy, our working groups and content marketing .
• Manage the editorial advisory board .
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
Essential
• Exceptional leadership skills and experience from working in a corporate, membership or trade association environment.
•Excellent communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Perfect research, writing, interviewing, proofreading and editing abilities, with impeccable attention to detail.
• Strong experience with written, audio and visual content.
• E xcellent written and spoken skills in English.
• Hands-on experience with MS Office, WordPress and other publishing tools.
• Proven familiarity with SEO and social media best practices .
• An e ye for detail, along with critical thinking .
•Prioritising and multitasking skills.
•Government relations and public policy understanding.
• Strong social media and PR experience.
•Outstanding time management & organisational skills.
Desirable
•Government relations and public policy experience.
• Project management of working groups, whitepapers and small events.
•Experience with HubSpot.
•Chairing and moderating at events and for webinars .
