Sun Originals is a new video production studio creating premium series for The Sun, Sun Sport, and Fabulous brands. We develop and produce original shows to help The Sun reach its next generation of viewers.

Your Role

As an Edit Assistant/DIT, you will support the Editors and team, highlighting client needs, editing sessions, workflow challenges, or technical issues to the Project Manager.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
  1. Ingesting and backing up rushes, creating low-res proxies
  2. Updating and maintaining DIT and edit logs
  3. Assisting on-site editors and preparing edit sequences/projects
  4. Consolidating projects and preparing edits for grading and online
  5. Managing media and projects across locations
  6. Performing software-based transcription and creating CC subtitle files for online platforms
  7. Managing media and archive projects on relevant systems and file delivery/viewing platforms
  8. Preparing sequences and media ahead of editing
  9. Playing out, packaging, and delivering assets to/from Edit, GFX, and Audio
  10. Reporting technical problems to engineering teams
  11. Carrying out metadata entry tasks diligently
What we are looking for:
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Technical training and experience in a media organization
  • Operational knowledge of editing environments
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro workflows in broadcasting or digital publishing
  • Knowledge of file-based workflows, broadcast technology, video, and audio theory
  • Basic understanding of remote editing and cloud workflows
  • Knowledge of common file types, codecs, and resolutions
  • Ability to QC and repair erroneous content
  • Strong organizational skills with a focused, analytical approach
  • Self-motivated with good time management
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Initiative-taking and decision-making skills, with problem escalation when needed
