As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, specifically in the Payments Technology division, your role will be pivotal in an agile team. You will be responsible for the enhancement, creation, and delivery of high-quality technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable manner. As a significant technical contributor, your tasks will include developing essential technology solutions across multiple technical domains within various business functions, all to support the firm's business goals.

Job responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or resolve problems.
• Develop secure, high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issues to improve operational stability.
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems.
• Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and use of new technologies.
• Contribute to team culture emphasizing diversity, equity, and respect.
• Expand capabilities and adoption of the modern API gateway for Payments Web APIs.
• Ensure stability, security, and scalability of the API infrastructure by paying close attention to non-functional requirements.
• Participate actively in a dynamic global agile team.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification in API Management Platform concepts and advanced experience.
• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Experience with automation and continuous delivery methods.
• Knowledge of all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
• Proficiency in software applications and technical processes in areas like cloud, AI, ML, mobile, etc.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry and IT systems.
• Practical cloud experience.
• Experience with API management technologies like APIGEE, Kong, Mulesoft.
• Strong understanding of OpenAPI Specification (OAS) for RESTful APIs.

Additional qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• AWS services (ECS, EKS, MKS).
• Kong API Gateway.
• Experience with Performance and Soak Testing.
• Programming in Golang and Lua.
